Blah blah blah
HUGE SPOILERS Homestuck babbling goes here as I try to organize my thoughts, so apologies for derp as honestly this is for me more than anybody else:
Okay, so the scratch involves a scratched disk leading to a reset of the game (lol), but it also is literally a big record scratch. Which fits Dave’s musical ability, right? Just like
Rose’s whole mission with "playing the rain" seems to fit into her ability to play the violin. We’ve already seen all four kids play musical instruments. In at least two of those cases instruments that their guardians explicitly taught them to play (see http://www.mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=004526 and http://www.mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=004668).
There’s no way this is a coincidence, and it makes me wonder a few things.
First, by extension does John’s quest of freeing the fireflies involve him playing a haunting piano refrain somehow, and stoking the forge involve Jade playing a hauntingly relaxing bassline? The hints in the shapes of the planets themselves for this seem less obvious I guess, though the pipes in John’s planet could be sort of pipe organy maybe, but it follows logically that the main quests of their lands could also be musically-oriented.
Second, other than Dave’s, all of these tasks involve lots of small animals suddenly coming into play. John’s supposed to free the fireflies stuck in the clouds, Rose is supposed to revive all the dead fish in the ocean, and Jade is supposed to unfreeze all the frogs. What role do they play?
We already know that Jade will succeed in stoking the forge and melting all the snow on her planet (http://www.mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=005316), and now we know pretty much for certain that this must happen before the Scratch. Also Rose’s playing of the rain is interesting in that it involves using the MEOW code like music notes, so presumably the act of reviving the fish will be tied into First Guardians and the Green Sun. This is backed up by the big Green Sun card in the ruins on her planet. So, if all the other planets are like this in that they have some sort of mechanism for causing big events like The Scratch, could these things have to do with how they will avoid getting erased by The Scratch somehow??? I dunno, but Dave says Jade spearheads the plan to boot Jack out of their session. Maybe the method used to do this is tied into one of these planet quests/events and possibly will also be the one that they use on themselves, presumably by entering the troll session given that this is where Jack ended up and also given the comments about the kids and trolls meeting in person. If each session is designed with its eventual outcome already in mind (possible examples already: The Tumor being present, having info on the Green Sun which the trolls didn’t seem to, and whatnot), it would make sense that each of these quests will become a part of their plan necessary for its completion.
Additional miscellaneous shit somehow related I guess: What does Jade’s ghost image card of the fourth wall have to do with it?
How the frig does any of this tie into the horrorterror’s desires? Scratch tells Rose, “You can start by shoring up the reliability of your sources.” which presumably includes them.
What is killing them, and why is this a threat to the perpetuation of reality as a whole?
Why is destroying the Green Sun NOT a threat to the perpetuation of reality?
If the horrorterrors want the Green Sun destroyed, why can’t they do it themselves?
Where is Jadesprite and what role is she going to play in this?
Dave uses the phrase “exile him to a place where he cant teleport back” in regards to Jack. So far the word “exile” has typically referred to sending a carapace person to the destroyed planet’s remains. And the Earth exiles have been convinced that they have some part to play in fighting Jack. Relevant? Does Jade try to send Jack to Earth before his eventual trip to the troll session? Or maybe after??
Blar. Apologies to anyone who had to read that. I just needed to get it out.

WHO SAYS IT ISN'T :)

TG: who cares if theyre getting killed
TG: theyre hideous and obnoxious
TT: You're underestimating the nature of the threat.
TT: At this point, the threat isn't to our session, or any given universe.
TT: It's to the perpetuation of reality itself.
TT: You wouldn't be saving them, per se.
TT: You'd be saving everything.
^^^I have trouble understanding how Rose can honestly believe this given the fact that she seems to have knowledge of the role the First Guardians play in grooming planets for that perpetuation. And if she doesn't believe it, that means she is lying to her friends so that she can trick them into helping her end reality. Which, um. Is an especially special brand of special right there.

But I... play Rose, and am the sort of person who thought the ending in SMT Nocturne where you join up with Lucifer to wage war on reality was the best one. :'D

Honestly though, even though it seems like the horrorterrors and Scratch are leading Rose down some dark, twisty path or whatever... The cloud visions from Skaia are leading everyone in the same direction, aren't they? They're not pointing down a path other than the one that the other forces are telling them to follow. Their means are just different and involve vague hints rather than explicit (if incomplete) directions, so it comes across in a way that is harder to understand the intentions of.
At least that is kind of my hope. We will find out that the horrorterrors and Skaia are both caught in this endless loop that needs to be ended JUST LIKE SCRATCH AND JADESPRITE'S ENDLESS AND DEPRESSING LIVES BOO HOO HOO HAA HAA HEE HEE Except they can't do it themselves for whatever reason.
And it will totes be a "Wow. Same goal all along. Really? Huh." moment when they realize that the dark and the light are sort of like two sides of the same thing and really not all that important. Two teams in one session, two sessions that are really one story, two godlike forces that are really one _________. Fill in the blank.
But that still just opens up more questions. Like how much Rose knows if she's making that kind of claim, how much Scratch knows, how this affects Lord English, how loyal Scratch really is to him if he's leading down a path that might negate LE's existence for realzies, etc etc.
